How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign are invisible aligners custom made for your teeth. They work in a series of trays to help shift your teeth gradually. Our teeth will typically move up to 0.25 mm per tray. Every two weeks, you will receive a new set, slowly moving your teeth towards their ideal positions. Invisalign not only controls the force used to straighten teeth, but it also controls the timing of force application. Only a few teeth are moved during each stage, this is determined by your doctor as they map out your individual treatment plan. After your consultation with your provider, they will then take pictures of your teeth and bite, take impressions and send it to the lab where they will determine the length of treatment-this usually takes between 2-3 weeks. Invisalign gives us a map of the determined treatment- sometimes treatment includes ‘buttons’ which is composite material placed on the tooth to help move quicker. Invisalign can help fix a variety of dental problems, such as: gapped teeth, overbites, underbites, and crowded teeth. Call our office today for a complimentary consultation! 619-276-6884
