All-on-4®

Living with several missing teeth can be extremely debilitating — not only for functional reasons but also due to the loss of confidence associated with gaps in one’s smile. Traditional dentures have been an effective treatment option for decades, but tend to be prone to slippage and gum irritation. All-on-4® is a procedure that can address the limitations of traditional dentures and reclaim both the form and function of your smile.

All-on-4® is a technique designed to affix a custom-made denture to the jawbone using four to six strategically-placed dental implants. This gives patients the opportunity to replace an entire row of missing teeth with less bone support than other implant dentistry techniques.

What are the Benefits of All-on-4® Implant Dentures?

All-on-4® implant dentures are considered an upgrade from traditional dentures, which are usually anchored with pastes and adhesives. Thanks to dental implants’ ability to anchor dentures to the gumline, patients often achieve a better, more secure fit for their restoration. Other benefits of the All-on-4® technique include:

  • Most natural-looking and secure restoration available to replace a full dental arch
  • Requires less bone volume when compared to replacing each individual tooth with a dental implant
  • Greater confidence when eating, drinking, and speaking
  • Reduced (or even eliminated) gum irritation often caused by denture slippage
  • No need for messy pastes to keep the denture anchored
  • Reclaimed ability to eat tough or chewy foods
  • Restores a strong, functional bite for decades
  • Stimulates new bone growth and minimizes jawbone recession

Ultimately, All-on-4® can be a dynamic way to restore full functionality of your teeth and achieve your dream smile. Is All-on-4® Right for Me?

All-on-4® can benefit individuals who want a steadfast alternative to traditional dentures and who wish to restore their smile with a secured prosthesis. Ideal candidates for the procedure should have enough jawbone volume to accommodate the implants, as well as good overall oral health. If you require treatment beforehand to address gum disease or other issues, Dr. Libby can design your treatment plan accordingly.

In addition, those considering All-on-4® should also be in good general health with no uncontrolled medical conditions or diseases that may compromise the healing process. Our team will evaluate your mouth and smile during a consultation and help you determine the best solution to reconstruct your smile.

How is the All-on-4® Procedure Performed?

While procedure details vary from person to person, All-on-4® is typically performed as an outpatient treatment. Depending on the number of teeth that need to be replaced and the amount of available bone support, between four to six dental implants will be placed in the jawbone at strategic angles. These implants will be left to fuse with the bone over a period of several months during a process called osseointegration. Once the implants have integrated with the jawbone, your custom-made denture will be attached, restoring the full integrity of your smile.

How Much Does All-on-4® Cost?

All-on-4® implant dentures generally cost between $40,000 and $60,000 in San Diego depending on the details of your individual treatment plan. Since All-on-4® involves oral surgery, the cost is typically greater than other restorative dentistry treatments, such as bridges and crowns. Other factors that may impact your cost estimate include:

  • The implant technique(s) utilized
  • The type of restoration created (crown, bridge, denture, etc.)
  • The number of dental implants necessary

While insurance companies usually don’t provide coverage for implant dentures, our practice strives to make your dream smile as affordable as possible. Please don’t hesitate to ask our office about dental financing options if you prefer to pay for your treatment in smaller installments over time.
